Frustrated with a significant number of inappropriate referrals and the resultant effects of patient ineligibility, Djavid Alleemudder (Obs & Gynae consultant at East Suffolk and North Essex NHS FT) turned to DXS for support.
Adding DXS SMART functionality to a reworked referral form would ensure appropriate referrals and increased efficiencies across the pathway, but most importantly, prevent heartbreak for hopeful couples. Submission of the new SMART Infertility Referral Form is only possible by completing all required fields and actions.

Since the introduction of the new SMART Referral Form in August 2021, data collected by the hospital team revealed a decrease of more than 50% in the average waiting list time and a significant reduction from 36% to less than 2% in inappropriate referral forms received.
